Lyric of the Day: 周杰倫 (Zhou Jie Lun)

人們的汗水夾雜著滿足與歡喜 / The people’s mixture of sweat, fulfilment and celebration
是我現在最捨不得的畫面 / Is the image that I am most afraid to lose…

-Jay Chou, 梯田 (Rice Fields, Ti Tian) : second verse

A midnight treat for those who are still up! Last burst of the Jay lyrics for now. A little different from the past posts, this is a rhythm-based track with a bulk of rapping. I believe Jay was inspired to write this after visiting his grandmother’s house (real grandma in the music video!) and seeing how much the landscape had changed. And if what I read was true, he recruited an actual aboriginal singer for the refrain. Jay received a Golden Melody Award (Taiwan version of a Grammy) nomination for writing this set of lyrics.

Full lyrics.

And just because I like them, more images of rice fields in Taiwan:
